PARDEW: "The destiny of the two clubs could hinge on the result"

Watford v Charlton Athletic

CHARLTON boss Alan Pardew has stressed to his players the need to maintain momentum against bottom sisde Watford on Saturday.

The 4-0 drubbing of West Ham last weekend moved the Addicks three points clear of the Hammers, but they still lie 18th in the Premiership table, six points adrift of 17th-placed Wigan.

Pardew said: "This game is just as important as last week’s against West Ham - even more so.

"The destiny of the two clubs could hinge on the result, so it’s important we take something from the game, hopefully a win."

Pardew admitted he has warned his players against getting sucked in to Watford’s abrasive style of play.

He added: "They’re better at it than us and we’ll need to play our game."
