Sutton 2 Margate 0

Margate suffered their third successive 2-0 defeat at Sutton United on Tuesday night but were unfortunate not to come away from Gander Green Lane with at least a point.

Sutton retained their unbeaten home record with two injury-time goals to move into the Ryman League Premier Division play-off places.

Margate gave their new signing from Dover, Nathan Bailey, his debut in attack alongside Joe Healy while Roberto Corbishley returned to the starting 11.

But once again Terry Yorath's side paid the penalty for failing to take their chances, especially in the first half when they were on top, while Corbishley hit the woodwork after the break.

But Sutton then struck twice in the closing stages. First, midfielder Dean Palmer headed in from a free-kick as Margate were reduced to 10 men following Liam Harwood's second yellow card.

Then a minute later, top scorer Gavin McCallum grabbed his 14th goal of the season to ensure there was no way back for 'Gate.
