Christa Cullen scored the second-half winner as Great Britain gained their first victory in the Olympic women's hockey campaign in Beijing on Thursday.

They did it the hard way, trailing for the the third game running, before beating New Zealand 2-1, and also had another goal controversially disallowed.

The Kiwis went ahead after 28 minutes, before Alex Danson put Britain level three minutes later.

Cullen then got the decider finishing off a neat penalty corner move on the hour - but Britain had to survive some anxious moments before they and coach, former Canterbury man Danny Kerry could celebrate.

Britain are next in action on Saturday against Japan which starts at 1.30pm British time.
