Kent suffer West Country wash-out

KENT'S Friends Provident Trophy tie against Somerset was abandoned without a ball being bowled in Taunton on Sunday.

Relentless rain left umpires Mike Harris and Barry Dudleston with little option but to call the game off at 2.30pm, with each side receiving a point apiece.

The result leaves Kent with a playing record of played six and won four, having lost once against Surrey at The Oval.

The abandonment will come as a bigger blow for Somerset who, after two wins from six starts, appear destined not to qualify for the knock-out stages.

Kent are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, with an LV Championship match against Surrey at Whitgift School in Croydon.
