GERARD GREENE: Early exit
GERARD GREENE: Early exit

KENT snooker player Herard Greene was a disappointed man as he was beaten 5-3 by six-time world champion Steve Davis in the first round of the British Open at the weekend.

The Rainham star, who was 3-1 up at one stage, bemoaned his luck and Davis' slow play as the eight-frame match lasted just short of four hours.

He said: “He played very slowly and after the interval everything that could go wrong did. He fluked a couple of snookers and every time I tried to go into the pack I was left with nothing.

Greene's next competitive action will be on December 2 when he takes on Marco Fu in the first round of the UK Championships in York.
