DARREN WATSON’S second half goal gave Margate a share of the points against Sutton United at Homelands on Saturday.

Watson headed home a Greg Oates free kick with 11 minutes to go after the home side had dominated the second period.

Earlier, Greg Watkins had given the visitors a 36th minute lead with his eighth goal of the season when he was given to much space to force the ball into the net from less than two yards.

Had Chris Kinnear’s side played with more passion they could have taken all three points but Rocky Baptiste, who was later substituted, Moses Jjunju and Che Stadhart all missed good opportunities.

Gate’s best players were Adrian Clarke and the American Peter Benevides, who nearly scored a winner with a spectacular overhead kick.
