Gillingham 1 Millwall 1

CHRIS DICKSON'S fourth goal in two games was enough for Gillingham to take a point from their League 1 clash against Millwall at Priestfield on Saturday.

Caretaker manager Iffy Onuora was disappointed to drop points at home, particularly after such a good start.

Onuora said: "You want to win your home games and I’m sure they’ll be happier than we are.

"I felt that we couldn’t build on what we had done in the first 20 minutes. They pushed us back a bit in the latter half of the first half and then in the second half they started well again. It was only when they scored that we managed to rouse ourselves again.

"In terms of wanting to win your home games - that’s two points dropped."

On loan striker Dickson lit up his first league start for the club on 16 minutes when he flicked the ball past defender Paul Robinson before finishing expertly beyond keeper Rab Douglas.

Dickson was desperately close to a second 10 minutes after the break when he showed pace and strength to beat Millwall caretaker boss Richard Shaw but his left-footed effort hit the inside of the post.

But that proved pivotal as the visitors began to assert themselves, before levelling in the 61st minute when Gary Alexander hooked the ball home and Alan Dunne followed it up for good measure.

The lively Dickson came close to a winner for the home side with 11 minutes to play but his effort from Nicky Southall's corner was blocked on the line.

Gillingham were let off the hook in the 85th minute when Dunne shot wide when in the clear.

Gillingham: Royce, Jupp, Cox, Sodje, King (Clohessy 71), Southall, Nowland (Mulligan 88), Bentley, Cogan (Graham 84), Dickson, Facey.

Subs Not Used: Stillie, Stone.

Attendance: 6,120.
