Curbishley: we were 'hugely disappointing'

Charlton 2 Leicester 1

CHARLTON manager Alan Curbishley was in no mood to make excuses for his team's dismal 2-1 home eclipse by Leicester in Saturday's FA Cup, fifth round shock of the day.

After watching his side crash out of the competition a mere two games away from the final, Curbishley confessed: "We got turned over by a Leicester side that was quicker, sharper and more aggressive. In fact they reminded me of Charlton six or seven years ago.

"I can count on three fingers the number of players who held their end up today. It was hugely disappointing, right from the first to the last whistle.

"I was looking at the clock hoping for a replay at Leicester because I was confident we couldn't play that badly again. But we never had that opportunity."

Asked if he would be taking disciplinary action against defender Hermann Hreidarsson, who was involved in a flare-up with Leicester midfielder Keith Gillespie at the final whistle, Curbishley said: "Certainly not, in fact I wish we could have had a few more like him out there."
