TICKETLESS Gillingham supporters will be able to watch Saturday's FA Cup, fifth round, tie at Arsenal on a big screen at Priestfield.

Following a torrent of complaints, many from season ticket holders unable to buy tickets, chairman Paul Scally attempted to placate furious fans by bringing big screen football to the club's home ground for the first time.

The tie will be beamed back live from Highbury on a 20 metre screen positioned in front of the Rainham End which holds 2,448. Tickets, priced at £5, went on sale at 10am today on a first come, first served basis.

These will be restricted to one per person. Priestfield’s gates will open at 2pm on the day.

In addition, the game will be screened at the club's Gills Rock Cafe. Tickets are available to Blues Rock Cafe members only.

Mr Scally, who admitted that Gillingham could have sold their 6,500 allocation of tickets twice over, said: “We are doing our best to satisfy those supporters who have been unable to purchase tickets. We have never tried this before but if it's successful we would certainly look at the idea again.”

Gillingham Football Club's Club Class Travel are running 30 coaches to Highbury while the Gillingham Independent Supporters' Club are running an additional coach, making three in total, from the Savacentre.

Supporters travelling by rail are advised that there are weekend engineering works on the Strood to Victoria line. Buses will call at Chatham and Rochester en-route.
