Gillingham have offered new deals to experienced pros Andy Frampton and Deon Burton.

The pair played a crucial role in helping the Gills to the League 2 title this season.

Boss Martin Allen said: “Andrew Frampton and Deon Burton have both done very well for us on and off the field, they are model professionals.

“Their contracts are up and between us we will work out to see if they can stay with us for next season. They will both be offered new deals.”

The Gills have also offered back-up keeper Tommy Forecast a deal at the club. He spent the season on loan from Southampton but has since been given a free transfer by the Premier League side.

Danny East, who was on loan from Hull City, has been invited back for pre-season training, which begins on Wednesday, June 26.

“I have not seen enough of him to offer him a contract and I have invited him back for pre-season training to see if we can give him a contract,” said Allen, on East.

Lewis Montrose, who has been out on loan, returned for the last few weeks of the season after picking up an injury at Oxford.

“Lewis is a good player and a great person and Lewis will continue with us through the summer to get him fit,” said Allen.

“But Lewis will not be offered a new contract with us.

“No doubt he will find a new club but if he doesn’t he can train with us for three weeks of pre-season because Lewis played an important role in us becoming champions."

Young left-back Joe Carter has been offered another year at the club. He is likely to be sent out on loan to gain further experience.

Allen also commented on changes made to his backroom department.

Leaving the club in recent days have been video analyst Josh Schofield, development boss Mark Patterson and recruitment manager Mike Robbins.

“All three are good people and I hope all three men go on to have good careers in analysis for Josh, coaching for Mark and player recruitment for Mike,” said the Gills boss.

Allen, meanwhile, is busy bringing new faces to Priestfield.

He said: “We are currently negotiating with several players and we will be in touch regarding new signings only when they happen. I will not comment on speculation or rumour.

“My task is to now build a team to do it again.”
