Ademola returns but Wings draw a blank

Hampton & Richmond 2 Welling 0

Striker Moses Ademola made his return to Welling on Tuesday night but failed to prevent them losing ground in the chase for Blue Square South play-off places.

Ademola has rejoined the Wings on loan from League 2 Brentford but even his presence alongside James Baker and Charlie Sheringham in attack was not enough for the visitors.

With Maidenhead also winning, Welling are now five points off the play-off places - and have a blank weekend this Saturday after Havant progressed in the FA Trophy.

With chances at a premium, the game looked to be heading for a stalemate until Hampton took a 73rd-minute lead when Lawrence Yaku found space behind the Welling defence and blasted home.

Either side of the goal, Sheringham and Loui Fazackerley both missed excellent chances for the Wings and they were made to pay late on when a defensive blunder left Nana Badu clear to score a second.
