Alan Pardew has made his second summer signing

Charlton manager Alan Pardew has once again shown his willingness to delve into the lower leagues after the Addicks snapped up Forest Green Rovers striker Stuart Fleetwood on Monday.

The 22-year-old forward, voted the Blue Square Premier Player of the Year last season, has signed a three-year deal to become Charlton’s second signing of the summer.

The former Wales under-21 international follows in the footsteps of Chris Dickson, who arrived at The Valley two summers ago from Dulwich Hamlet and Dorian Smith, who Charlton signed from Tooting and Mitcham in February.

Fleetwood burst into the spotlight last term after blasting 36 goals for Forest Green Rovers and Alan Pardew has won the race to sign the highly-rated youngster and boost his striking ranks.

Though Fleetwood was signed as a free agent, the Addicks will pay Rovers a ‘developmental’ compensation fee because he is under the age of 24, and that amount will be decided at a tribunal.
