THE Kent County Football Association are poised to transfer their headquarters from Medway to Maidstone in a near £1 million move.

KCFA chairman and managing director, Barry Bright, described the proposed move from Maidstone Road, Chatham to Cobdown, Aylesford, as crucial to the Association’s development.

"It is vital we move because we have outgrown our present offices. Cobdown is perfect for us because it meets every criteria," said Mr Bright.

The move will be funded by the sale of their existing Chatham office plus a substantial grant from the Football Association.

A planning application for the construction of a purpose built office has been submitted to Tonbridge and Malling Council and the KCFA hope to hear if they have been successful within the next seven weeks.

Mr Bright added: "We are reasonably assured of our planning application being approved. However, we need to dispose of our current premises in Chatham and find additional funding."

Mr Bright admitted it would not be an easy journey but providing there are no hitches, the switch to Cobdown should be completed within two years.
