WITH the World Cup looming and football fever about to strike, a unique reserve team of footballers are ready to lace up their boots and do their bit for their country.

And Sven won’t even have to change the names on his chosen squad’s shirts.

The reunion internet site, Friends Reunited, has put together a back-up squad of members of the website who share their name with England’s finest footballers, including a 53-year-old funeral director from London Road, West Kingsdown, near Dartford, called Michael Owen.

Michael, along with team-mates John Terry, Gary Neville, Luke Young, Paul Robinson, Alan Smith, Kieron Richardson, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Peter Crouch and Ashley Cole, gathered for the first time at the North London club, Barnet FC.

Michael said: “To be picked for the England squad is every man’s dream.”
