Woman dies in A20 crash

A 61-year-old woman died after a collision involving two vehicles on the A20 at about 5.15pm yesterday.

The woman, who has not yet been named, was driving a silver Toyota Yaris. She was treated by ambulance staff but died at the scene.

A 41-year-old man who was driving a grey Mitsubishi L200 pickup was taken to hospital with minor whiplash injuries.

The road was closed for about three hours while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Until examined the scene and removed the vehicles.

It was the second road tragedy in just over 24 hours. A cyclist died after he lost control of his push bike and crashed into a road sign in Lidsing Road, Boxley.

Police closed the road between Pilgrim's Way and the Medway-Maidstone boundary.

Police inquiries are ongoing.
