Farmers turn to WhatsApp to tackle rural crime

Farmers across the county have been teaming up with police to help tackle rural crime by using WhatsApp.

The National Farmers Union say using online messaging networks allows farmers to get an immediate response and receive updates on crimes, as opposed to calling 999 or 101.

It has welcomed the initiative amid a spike in thefts, arson attacks and trespassing.
