Unprovoked attack on young woman

POLICE are appealing to witnesses after a young woman was punched in the face in an unprovoked street attack.

The 20-year-old was walking in Bush Avenue, Ramsgate, towards Newington Road when a man walked towards her and began abusing her and calling her names.

Police say the woman shouted back and he struck her before running off along Bush Avenue.

The victim does not know her attacker who is said to be a man aged between 20 and 30. He is about 6ft tall, thin and was wearing a waist-length beige jacket and black jeans.

A police spokeswoman said: “The attack happened shortly before 9pm on Thursday, February 12. This appears to have been an unprovoked attack near to what is quite a busy road so passers by may have seen what happened.”

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Duncan Beddington on 01843 222145.
