POLICE investigating a fatal collision between a Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway train and a car at a level crossing on Romney Marsh last Sunday have arrested the driver of the Ford Escort.

A 22-year-old woman, who lives in the Romney Marsh area, was questioned by officers at Folkestone Police Station this morning after which she was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Train driver Kevin Crouch, 31, was killed after his engine struck the car on the level crossing at Burmarsh Road, Dymchurch.

The woman, who was in the car with a baby when the crash occurred, has been released on police bail while officers continue their investigation. She will be required to return to the police station at a later date.

Police would still like to hear from anyone who was on the train that crashed if they have not already spoken to the police. They should leave their details on the special hotline number 01303 289079.
