'Totally devastated': Dad pays tribute to 'tragic' son

The father of a man who was killed in Margate has paid tribute to his son.

Darren Matthew Turner, 36, died after police were called to a disturbance in Wilderness Hill, Margate, at 9.20pm on Tuesday.

Today Darren’s father, Derek Turner, spoke of the loss and devastation that he and his family feel following the death his son.

He said: "Both myself and my family are totally devastated by Darren’s death. This has left a huge hole in our lives.

My son has had his life cut short by this tragic event and we hope that he is now at peace."

Darren leaves behind his mother, father, a sister and two nephews. The family all live in Margate.

A man and a teenager have been arrested in Herne Bay on suspicion of murder.

The 20-year-old and a youth aged 16 were arrested in Peartree Road on Wednesday morning.

The man and youth, plus a 42-year-old man, all from Margate, are in custody at Margate and Canterbury and are being questioned on suspicion of murder.

The 42-year-old was arrested at 9.40pm Tuesday in Wilderness Hill.
