Tobin case latest - preliminary hearing in High Court, Edinburgh

The case of a handyman charged with murdering a schoolgirl whose remains were found at a Margate house enters its latest phase today.

A second preliminary hearing is taking place at the High Court in Edinburgh ahead of the trial of Peter Tobin.

The 62-year-old denies murdering teenager Vicky Hamilton from Redding, near Falkirk.

The 15-year-old disappeared after waiting for a bus in Bathgate, West Lothian, in February 1991.

Her remains were found in the garden of a house in Irvine Drive, Margate, in November last year, after one of the biggest missing persons investigations in Scottish legal history.

Tobin is due to go on trial at the High Court in Dundee on November 3.
