Kent set for sun with temperatures expected to reach high teens

It may be foggy today but don't put your sunglasses away just yet.

Despite today's cloudy conditions, some weather services say temperatures could reach 20C.

It is thought bright sunshine will help the mercury rise to 23C early next week, hotter than Lisbon and parts of Spain, with 21C predicted.

That compares with the average temperature for April of 8C.

The Met Office is slightly more cautious though, saying 17C can be expected.

From Friday we can expect temperatures to climb to a steady 16C, but there will be some cloud cover.

That is meant to lift after the early part of next week, leaving it bright on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "By mid-week it will probably become more widely settled with some dry and sunny weather."

The trend looks set to stay as well, as conditions next weekend are likely to be met with "above-average" temperatures.
