Teenagers arrested over building site blaze

Two teenagers have been bailed by police following a suspicious fire in Willesborough on Saturday night.

The blaze broke out just after 9pm and damaged two homes still being built in Milne Road.

A 13-year-old and 16-year-old were arrested on suspicion of arson and have been told to report again to police on June 25 after further investigations are carried out into how the fire started.

Six appliances, a height vehicle and almost 40 firefighters were called to the blaze.

Ashford fire station manager Lee Rose said: "It was a set of five terraced homes which had been built but were not completed internally.

"The fire had spread to another of the homes but we managed to stop if affecting the rest of the row.

"The fire was under control by midnight but two crews were still at the scene on Sunday morning damping down."
