Sports car driver 'serious' after crash

A MAN had to be cut from his sports car after it was in collision with a bus turning into Pembury Hospital.

The driver of the Toyota MR2 suffered head injuries and is in a serious but stable condition in the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells.

Emergency services were called to Tonbridge Road at about 2.30pm yesterday. The bus was carrying about 10 passengers but none of them were injured.

They remained on the bus as firefighters freed the sports car driver and were also interviewed by police.

The road remained closed throughout rush-hour, causing major delays. It finally re-opened shortly after 8pm.

A spokesman for Pembury Hospital said the closure did not affect its operations as traffic was diverted to an alternative entrance.
