A teenager has been charged after a seafront attack which left a man fighting for his life.

Jack Wood, 18, of Allenby Road, Ramsgate, will appear before magistrates in Margate on November 1 accused of grievous bodily harm.

It follows an assault in Ramsgate Harbour area on Sunday.

The 29-year-old man who was assaulted remains critically ill in hospital.

An 18-year-old Margate man also arrested has been given a police caution after admitting assaulting a 22-year-old man from Sandwich in a taxi in Harbour Parade at 2am.

Police were called to the scene at just after 2.15am, when the man was found with serious injuries.

The Londoner was taken to a local hospital. However, his condition deteriorated and he was taken to a London hospital - where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

Police cordoned off the area while forensic officers were at the scene yesterday.

No weapon is believed to have been used in the assault.
