Plea to car drivers after rape of teenager

POLICE investigating the rape of a 16-year-old girl are appealing for the drivers of two cars to contact them.

They believe the drivers may have seen the victim as she went for help.

PC Suzanne Rimmell, the investigating officer, said: "The girl reported that she saw a white taxi and a red 4x4 pass by as she crossed Corkwell Street, near Pagitt Street, Chatham, at around 1pm on Thursday, December 1, as she made her way away from the scene.

"She was not fully clothed. We appeal to the drivers or anyone else who may have seen a young girl in a state of undress that Thursday come forward as they may have information that could help our investigation."

* A 31-year-old man has been charged with rape in relation to the offence.
