FORMER West Ham United FC manager Alan Pardew has been appointed as the new boss of struggling Charlton Athletic.

He takes over from Charlton head coach Les Reed who has has left the club by "mutual consent". Reed was only in the post 41 days.

Pardew has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at The Valley and becomes the team's third manager this season.
