Jack Green says he can’t do any more to impress the TeamGB selectors as he bids to earn a spot in the Olympic 4x400m relay team.

The 400m hurdles specialist produced a blistering flat run of 45.2s to anchor the GB team home to gold in the relay at the Diamond League meeting in Rome last Thursday.

The 20-year-old received the baton in the lead and cruised round to keep Botswana in second place with Spain taking third.

Green (pictured) said: "Rome was my last opportunity to stake a claim for the relay team and I think I’ve done that.

"I did what I had to do and I have to hope that’s enough. Some of the other 400m runners have set good times lately, but I have shown I can do it in the relay. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s enough."

However, the meeting was otherwise disappointing for the Maidstone-born star who was overlooked for a place in the 400mH despite the withdrawal of training partner and World Champion Dai Greene due to illness.

Green said: "To my knowledge I was the reserve and I was going to be given a lane if anyone withdrew. I was even told to warm-up at one point.

"I knew about Dai before anyone else, as he’s my friend, but they went with someone else. I was not happy."

Meanwhile, Green stormed to a new Season’s Best of 48.98 in the 400mH at an international event in Montreuil, Paris, on Tuesday, despite clipping the first hurdle and another late-on.

Green said: "I have shown I’m in good shape, it’s up to me now. If I start running low 48s then getting a lane is not going to be a problem. That’s just what I’ll have to do."
