Andy Ford opened his reign as Maidstone United manager with a point as his side came from behind to drew 2-2 with Hendon in the Ryman League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Just hours after being appointed the man to take over from Peter Nott, Ford was in dreamland when Danny Hockton (pictured) netted midway through the first half to give his side the lead.

However, Casey Maclaren and Jamie Busby netted in quick succession to turn the game in Hendon’s favour.

But a late leveller from Joe Vines salvaged a draw for the home side.

Ramsgate twice squandered a lead against Arlesey Town as they bowed out the FA Trophy at the first qualifying round with a 3-2 defeat.

Mitchell Sherwood netted an opener, which James Gray then cancelled out, but Mark Lovell regained the lead for the Rams shortly after the break.

With a minute to go, James Gregory saw red and gifted a penalty to Arlesey, but they missed the spot-kick only to equalise through a stunning strike from Joel Mason.

Jim Ward’s men nearly held on to take the game into penalties, but with three minutes left, Chris Marsh struck the winning blow from the penalty spot to dump Ramsgate out after extra-time.
