Mark McCammon is relaxed about all the talk linking long-time Charlton target Chris Dickson with a move back to Priestfield.

Transfer-deadline day passed with boss Mark Stimson running out of time to complete the deal but the big striker believes the signing, if it ever happens, would be a major boost for the club,

McCammon said: "Football is dog-eat-dog, it’s part of the game having competition for places in all areas of the team. If Dicko came it would be another asset to the club, another goalscorer, which is what we need to produce the goods, stay in this league and progress.

"It’s about different options, different dimensions and it could be a good thing."

McCammon feels he needs a run of games to help his match fitness.

"I think it takes seven or eight games to get a rhythm going," he said. "Pre-season was important because I haven’t had one for three years.

"I have got to push on from here, try to get some goals and chip in with a few more assists.

"I want to be an asset to the team and a nuisance to the opposition, use my size better and bring other people into the game and help Simeon (Jackson) as much as possible."
