Margate have signed Ebbsfleet United defender Dean Pooley on a two-year deal.

Gate's new manager Chris Kinnear swooped to sign the 24-year-old (pictured), who joined Fleet in 2008 and went on to make 78 appearances at Stonebridge Road before being released by manager Liam Diahs this summer.

Injury restricted his appearances last season but he still played in 23 league games in Fleet’s promotion campaign, including a substitute appearance in the play-off final win against Farnborough.

The Sidcup-born defender has previously been with Millwall, Beckenham Town, Bohemians and Ballymena United.

Kinnear said: "I told him about the plans for Margate and he was keen to sign; he wanted to join a club with ambition.

"He’ll be a great asset because he can play anywhere across the back.”
