Man vanishes after going for walk

AN 88-year-old man suffering from Alzheimers has gone missing from his home in Swanscombe, near Dartford.

Alfred Edgley, of Childs Crescent, has not been seen since Saturday after telling his wife he was going for a walk.

A neighbour later saw Mr Edgley walking from Swanscombe toward Bluewater pushing a wheelbarrow. It is believed he may have been going to a local farm shop.

Mr Edgley has been known to go missing before, but he has usually been found within hours of his disappearance.

Inspector Lynn Bardell said: "We are obviously concerned for Mr Edgley and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him since Saturday morning or who may know his whereabouts."

Mr Edgley is about 5ft 7in tall, small build with receding grey hair. He walks with a slight limp. On the day he went missing he was wearing a jumper and trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Kent Police on 01474 331055.
