Man jumps in path of train

A MAN has died after he jumped in front of a train.

Horrified commuters watched as Anthony Holland, 46 from Oak Road, Murston was struck by a Gatwick Express train after he jumped from the platform at Clapham Junction railway station in London on Wednesday, August 30.

It happened at about 7.40am on platform 13.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "We were called after reports a man had been struck by a train and it would appear the man jumped from the platform.

"Several lines at Clapham Junction were disrupted while power was switched off for officers to retrieve the man’s body.

"The death is not being treated a suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner. The line was cleared just after 9.15am."

Battersea Coroners Office refused to confirm whether a post mortem examination had been carried out.
