Rochester man, 62, appears at Medway Magistrates’ Court after reports of ‘machete attack’ in Hermitage Road, Higham

A man has been charged after another man was allegedly injured with a machete.

Police were called to Hermitage Road in Higham, near Rochester, at noon on Saturday following reports a man had been attacked.

A man was found to have a cut to his hand but he did not require hospital treatment.

A police spokesman said earlier today: “A 62-year-old man from Rochester was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.”

Later this evening police confirmed a man had been charged.

Anthony McQuillan, 62, from St Johns Road, Rochester, has been charged with attempted wounding with intent.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday (January 1) and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 29.

The victim and suspect are believed to be known to each other.
