Man, 67, dies in two-car smash

The elderly man killed in a two-car crash on Romney Marsh has now been named.

He was Barry Griffin, 67, of Lydd.

Mr Griffin died after his Nissan Micra was in collision with a Suzuki Vitara on the A259 between Lydd and Brenzett at 10am on Saturday.

His 62-year-old wife and passenger was severely injured and was flown to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by Kent Air Ambulance.

A man and woman in the other car were also injured and had to be cut free by firefighters after being trapped in the wreckage.

They were taken by land ambulance to the Harvey.

None of the survivors' injuries are believed to be life threatening.
