Lucky escape after object smashes windscreen

A LORRY driver escaped uninjured when an object was thrown from a bridge shattering his windscreen

The man, who is from Strood, was driving along the A289 Wainscott Bypass when he heard a loud bang and was showered with glass.

He had just reached the pedestrian bridge on the Lower Rochester Road on Wednesday, April 27, between 1.30pm and 1.45pm when the dashboard became covered in glass. The driver was uninjured.

Another lorry driver had his dashboard damaged along the same stretch of road at 2pm on Monday, April 25. He saw something hit the windscreen and bounce off causing it to splinter.

After pulling in to a layby, another lorry driver pulled in and told him the same thing had happened to him. Neither of the drivers saw anyone standing on the footbridge.
