His truck overturned in a collision with a car on the motorway's London-bound carriageway between junctions two and one shortly after 3.30pm Thursday.

According to a police spokesman, both vehicles left the carriageway and ended up in a field.

Police said the victim - who was in his 50s and did not live locally - was pronounced dead at the scene.

The green Ford Fiesta involved is also thought to have rolled several times, but its driver - a 19-year-old woman - escaped serious injury and was taken to Darent Valley Hospital as a precaution.

The London-bound M20 was closed at junction three for eight hours after the crash and traffic diverted via the M26.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 01622 798538.
