THOUSANDS took to the streets of the capital to race round 26 miles for this year's London Marathon.

Some 35,000 fundraisers, semi-professionals, and elite runners pounded the roads and pavements of the capital for the annual event.

And despite the April showers, it didn't dampen the spirits of those taking part in the marathon.
