Two Kent rowers Alistair McKean and James Morgan have been named in the eight-strong Great Britain squad for the Paralympics in Beijing in September.

The sport makes it's debut at this year's Games and McKean, a member of Herne Bay Rowing Club who lives in Whitstable, and Morgan from Deal are in the Mixed Coxed Fours crew, which also includes Naomi Riches and Vicki Hansford.

They won gold gold in the World Cup regatta at Poznan in Poland last month in their final competitive outing before the Games.

Paralympics GB Chief Executive Phil Lane said: "Britain has traditionally been a strong rowing nation at the Olympics, and I am looking forward to seeing us continue our success in the sport.

"All the rowers have proved themselves to be top athletes on a world stage, and therefore stand a good chance of medalling in Beijing".

The Paralympics start on September 6, with the rowing events due to start three days later.
