Paul Farbrace is planning a holiday before beginning his search for a new role in the game after Kent confirmed he was stepping down as director of cricket after two years with the county.

The 44-year-old’s future with the county has been mired in uncertainty for a week, as Kent officials remained tightlipped about his future until yesterday (Wednesday) when they confirmed his departure with a year still left on his contract.

Farbrace refused to expand on the terse three paragraph statement released by the club on Wednesday: "There is not a lot I want to add. I genuinely and sincerely hope that the county go and do well because a lot of time and effort has been put in and good things have happened.

"It is not about any individuals, it is about the club, looking to the future and I wish them well.

"I hope to going away for two weeks to relax before start to look for a new role in the game elsewhere."

The club have made no announcement about a successor but it is likely to be discussed at the cricket committee meeting on Friday.
