Jamie Day expects a stern test of Welling United's play-off credentials

Welling's Blue Square South play-off hopes will not be over if they lost at Eastleigh on Wednesday night, according to player/manager Jamie Day.

The Wings have only lost once since the turn of the year and sit six points off the play-off places, with matches against the bottom three sides in their run-in.

However, Eastleigh still hold play-off dreams of their own and Day knows it will provide a stiff examination of his team's credentials.

"I don't think we're out of it if we lose but it would certainly make it more difficult for us," said Day.

"We'd be happy with a point as it would be something to build on.

"We need to keep picking up wins, it breeds confidence and hopefully we can take something from Wednesday's game.

"It's going to be tough away from home against a team near us in the table.

"I look at our remaining games and there are matches we need to get three points out of it."

Jack Obersteller and Andy Sambrook remain out for a further week, although the former had positive news following a scan on Friday.

But Carl Jenkinson is unlikely to return to Park View Road after Charlton included him in their first-team squad for Saturday's trip to Millwall.
