Gillingham striker Andy Pugh will join Welling for a second loan spell before the weekend.

Pugh, pictured, who enjoyed a successful time at Park View Road two seasons ago, will provide the Wings with some much-needed firepower.

The youngster, a regular scorer for Gills' reserve side this season, has fallen down the pecking order at Priestfield and with only one second team game in December, a move will give him games.

The deal, revealed by Gills boss Mark Stimson on Thursday morning, was still to be finalised later that day but Pugh will join Welling in time to feature in their FA Trophy third qualifying round tie at home to Tonbridge on Sunday (2pm).

Pugh scored two goals in six matches during his previous spell with the Wings.

Meanwhile, Welling boss Jamie Day has begun reshaping his side by releasing former assistant manager Lee Protheroe.

With Andy Sambrook showing a return to form since the departure of former boss Andy Ford, Protheroe was deemed surplus to requirements as Day looks to free up funds to bring in new faces.
