Gillingham fans are being asked to decide what colour kit the team should play in next season.

The Gills ditched their usual blue kit this season in favour of playing in red – to celebrate their centenary season.

This season’s kit was modelled on the one which they played in during their first year as Gillingham FC. It was originally planned for the team to play in red just for the 2012/13 campaign.

But such has been the success of the team this season, chairman Paul Scally has decided to let supporters choose if they wish the team to continue to play in their centenary colours.

A voting form has been included on this year’s season ticket application and Mr Scally is keen to find out what the fans think. A decision will need to be made soon, as it is understood the kit manufacturers need to know imminently.

Mr Scally said: “When I introduced the centenary shirt for this past season, it was intended to be a home shirt for just one season, with a return to our blue and white striped shirt for the season coming.

"However, given the red centenary shirt has been so well received, and indeed it is a promotion shirt, they may be a wish to keep it for another season.”

Fans may also wish to choose this season's away blue and red centenary shirt as the club’s home kit for the 2013/14 season, or revert back to the blue and white stripes.

“The decision is yours,” added the Gills chairman.
