Gillingham equalled their worst-ever run of league results away from home on Saturday.

The last time the Gills won away in the league was at Rochdale on May 2, 2009 - making it 28 games since they last tasted victory.

It equals an unwanted record that was first achieved between March 1992 and October 1993.

With Wembley classed as a neutral venue, the Gills’ total record without an away win is now 32 games. The club’s next away fixture is at league leaders Port Vale on October 16.

Boss Andy Hessenthaler inherited the club’s away problem last year but knows it's now his to sort out.

"It’s my problem now," he said. "I don’t know what it is with the away record.

"We’ve had five this year. It’s not good enough and it’s carried on from last year."
