Five cars have been involved in a pile-up causing major tailbacks on the A2 this morning.

The incident happened around 7.15am near the Northfleet turn-off and led to gridlock on the London-bound carriageway.

Cars involved were a red Vauxhall Astra, a blue Vauxhall Vectra, a red Land Rover and two unknown vehicles.

The road was closed for 20 minutes while Highways agency staff moved the vehicles to the hard shoulder, but has now reopened.
