Fire brigade's anger at blazes

YOUNGSTERS found a new way of wasting firefighters' time at the weekend.

A crew from Strood fire station was called out at about 1.30am on Saturday to find a series of paraffin barbecue lighters had been lit and strategically placed in various locations, including dustbins, garden walls and in the middle of road.

A spokesman for the brigade said: "We were first called out to River Drive where we found the first one. Then we just followed the trail and just stamped them out one at a time."

"We followed a series of them from there to London Road and Watling Street. Someone must have thought it was funny, but we didn't."
