A heavily pregnant woman said she is scared for the safety of her unborn child after she and her mother were attacked in their home.

Samantha Wepener suffered injuries to her wrist, stomach and back during the incident in Eastern Avenue, Queenborough, on the Isle of Sheppey.

Her ex-partner Lee Gray admitted two counts of assault when he appeared at Maidstone Magistrates' Court.

The court heard Gray, who also admitted breaching his bail, appeared drunk when he entered the Wepener's property uninvited through the back door at about 11pm.

He began shouting and swearing and was immediately told by Miss Wepener's mother Sarah to 'Get out of my house'.

Miss Wepener, who broke-up with Gray in March after a 10-month relationship, heard the commotion and came downstairs to help remove him from the house on Friday night.

During the struggle, Gray headbutted Mrs Wepener in the face before her daughter managed to bundle him into the garden.

Miss Wepener, who is 31-weeks pregnant, fell on top of him as the struggle continued outside and shouted for neighbours to call police.

He left the premises when the pair managed to lock the back door on him.
He was later arrested.

Miss Wepener, who lived with Gray in Romford, Essex, but returned to Sheppey after their break-up, suffered a sprained wrist and a sore back and stomach during the incident.

Her mother was left with a suspected broken nose.

In a statement read to court, Miss Wepener said she remained scared for the safety of her unborn child and family.

She said thinking about the incident and the assault on her mother made her "physically sick".

Gray, who was on bail for a separate assault charge to which he pleaded guilty, was remanded in custody for pre-sentence reports.

He is due to be sentenced on Monday, November 19.
