A terrified Folkestone woman endured a weekend of hell... after she angered her lover by serving him SOGGY TOAST!

Ex-prisoner Mark Smith flew into a rage - threatening to burn his girlfriend Jackie Adams as she slept.

During her nightmare weekend, the 43-year-old bully:

* SMASHED his way into her home when she didn't meet his train

* RIPPED a panic alarm off the wall

* GRABBED her throat repeatedly because his breakfast was soggy

* POURED beer over her head

* DEMANDED she wear thigh-length boots for sex in public

Eventually, Ms Adams was so terrified she fled into a shop in Sandgate Road and pleaded for the police to rescue her, Canterbury Crown Court was told.

Smith, of Marine Terrace, Folkestone, was jailed for three years after he admitted making threats to kill in October last year.

Prosecutor Denzil Pugh told how he had served a 150-day sentence for assaulting Ms Adams and smashing up her home.

The day he was released from jail he expected Ms Adams to be waiting when his train arrived at the station.

"October 28 last year was going to be the day of his freedom and he was hoping to renew his relationship with Miss Adams.

"She had arranged she would meet him at the railway station. It was to be a happy reunion... only she started to have second thoughts.

"And after consuming a fair amount of alcohol and other substances, she wasn't in a fit condition to meet him," he added.

Later that night Smith arrived at her home in "an ill temper", which was made worse because there was no "'welcome home" dinner or beer.

The following morning he became more aggressive after Ms Adams put beans on his toast, making it soggy, Mr Pugh said.

She later told police: "When Mark was kicking off he would grab my chin and neck and would push my face back.

"He kept grabbing me and pinning me against the sofa.

"While physically assaulting me he would make threats to kill me. He threatened to punch me to death and burn me while I was in bed."

The prosecutor said Ms Adams believed the threats and was too frightened to flee the home she now regarded as a prison.

The next day, after drinking in Gillespie's in Folkestone - the kinky Smith demanded she wear thigh-length boots and have sex in a public place.

Mr Pugh said that when she refused he hit her with one of the boots!

Eventually she fled into a shop in Sandgate Road and asked staff to call the police.

Yet despite being arrested, the controlling bully wrote to her apologising for the attacks and telling her: "Don't give up on me, babe. You know I am not a bad person!"

But the court heard Ms Adams had now ended their stormy two-and-a-half year relationship - and a judge ordered Smith NOT to contact her again - and to keep away from parts of the town.

Judge Michael O'Sullivan told him: "You are are an aggressive bully, obsessed by Ms Adams and you seek to control her.

"You have used violence on her in the past and in my judgment she is clearly vulnerable and believed your threats.

"You put her in genuine fear. She needs protecting from you."
