Huge delays should be clearing after a reported illegal immigrant incident led to waits of up to three hours at Eurotunnel in Folkestone.

Fewer trains ran between Kent and France while the tunnel was inspected, causing long queues at the terminal in Folkestone.

Disruption caused misery for thousands of passengers – many of them motor sport fans making their way to this weekend's Le Mans 24-hour race in France.

Earlier this morning, passengers leaving Kent were warned to expect a waiting time of around three hours.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your journey," an update on Eurotunnel's website said.
