Driver scammed by crooks

A PENSIONER was left barking mad when his pick-up truck was stolen by robbers who tricked him into believing he had run over a dog.

The 65-year-old man fell for the ploy when he pulled over in Glebe Way, West Wickham.

He went to investigate as a man knocked on the window shouting there was a dog under the vehicle.

But he was pushed to the ground by the man, who fled in a waiting vehicle at about 11.30am on Tuesday, April 8.

An accomplice then sneaked into the victim’s black Mitsubishi L200 – marked with Animal logos – and escaped down Croydon Road.

The man who pushed the victim to the ground is white, aged about 25, 5ft 9in tall with collar-length brown hair.

Anyone with any information is asked to phone Det Con Paul Winter from Bromley’s robbery squad on 020 8284 9969 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
