Drive-by shooting victim dies

A 38-year-old man has died in hospital three days after an apparent drive-by shooting.

The man, who has not been named, is believed to have been outside an address in Mill Place, Crayford, at about 10pm last Thursday when a car approached and someone inside the car fired several shots, hitting the victim and some parked cars.

The car then drove off. Police are appealing for information but are keeping an open mind on a possible motive.

Meanwhile, residents have spoken of their shock. One woman said: "We knew they were gun shots right away. It’s happened before. It’s obviously not a nice thing to happen in your street, especially as there are a lot of families with children."

Another woman, who also did not wish to be named, said: "He was a nice guy. Very friendly."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Trafalgar Shootings Team on 020 8217 7377 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
